I have already described several different ways in which you can connect ZyXEL Keenetic to the Internet. For example, if you want to connect a ZyXEL router to another router via a Wi-Fi network, you can configure WISP mode (wireless connection to a provider), or configure the router in repeater mode. And in this article we will look at how to connect a ZyXEL router to another router, or an ADSL modem (no difference). We will connect them using a network cable.
We just connect our ZyXEL Keenetic to a modem, or a router on which the Internet is already configured and working, and our router will receive Internet via cable and distribute it further. A very popular scheme, which I have already described in this article for different devices. I will show using the example of ZyXEL Keenetic Start, but the instructions are also suitable for other models: ZyXEL Ultra, Lite, 4G, etc.
Two important points:
- The main router, or ADSL modem to which we will connect, does not need to be configured. The main thing is that he would automatically distribute IP addresses. The DHCP server was enabled (as a rule, it is always enabled).
- On the ZyXEL router that we will connect, I strongly advise you to do a factory reset.

We connect the ZyXEL router with a modem, or router
First, we need to go to the settings of our router, and change its IP address. I wrote here how to enter the ZyXEL settings. Just connect to it via cable, or via Wi-Fi and in the browser go to 192.168.1.1.
In the settings, right on the main page, go to the tab home network, and click on IP address.
Next, replace the IP address with 192.168.2.1 in the fields: IP address, and Start address of the pool. Click the button Apply.
The settings will be saved, but the router is likely to freeze. In the browser, we just need to change the address to enter the settings to 192.168.2.1, because we just changed it. Now we will enter the settings at the new address. If you cannot open the settings again, it will restart the router and go to 192.168.2.1.
Now you can connect to a modem, or another router. We take a network cable (you can use the one that comes with the kit), and connect it to the ZyXEL in WAN connector, and on the main router, or ADSL modem in LAN connector.
After connecting, the ZyXEL router immediately connected to the Internet and started distributing it. In its settings, on the main page there is information on connection. He got an IP address from the main router (modem). There you will see Status: Internet Access.
If you do not have a connection, then click on the tab below the Internet and select a connectionBroadband connection... A window will open opposite Configuring IP Settings install Automatic, and press Apply.
After that, everything should work.
If the router does not connect to the Internet, then check again if you have correctly connected it to the modem or router. And make sure that the Internet is working on the main device.
