Now you can get acquainted with the TP-LINK TL-WR840N router, which I will now tell you about. If you are choosing a new router for yourself, then this information should be useful to you. I have already prepared instructions for configuring TP-LINK TL-WR840N. So if you buy this router, you can configure it with it.

You need to start with the fact that TP-LINK TL-WR840N is exclusively a router for a small home or office. If you need to organize the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi and cable, say, more than 10 devices, and constantly download something, play online games, and perform other complex tasks, then you need a more powerful router. For example, as an option, you can see TP-LINK Archer C20i, which also supports Wi-Fi 5 GHz.

This router will easily distribute the Internet to multiple devices via Wi-Fi and a network cable. Judging by the information on the box, it can withstand online games, downloading files, etc. But you need to understand that everything is in moderation. If you run some heavy games on several computers at the same time, then most likely it will not withstand this load. If such budget models could cope with all the tasks, then who would then buy a router that costs ten or more times more.

TP-LINK TL-WR840N is generally an interesting model. Why? Look, its characteristics practically do not differ from TP-LINK TL-WR841ND. And judging by the characteristics, it is better than the popular TP-Link TL-WR740N. But for the price, it's cheaper than the TL-WR740N. That's it. For some reason, it did not become as popular as the TL-WR841ND and TL-WR740N. Honestly, I don't even know why.

A good router that matches its price exactly and will cope with the tasks for which it was created.

A small review of TP-LINK TL-WR840N

Interesting design, white glossy plastic from which almost the entire router is made looks good. Only the panel for the indicators is highlighted with gray plastic, and the TP-LINK inscription is also gray.

As for the controls, I was very pleased with the presence of a separate button for turning on / off the power, and a button for turning on / off the Wi-Fi network. This is something that TP-LINK TL-WR740N is sorely lacking. Also on the back of the router you will find a WPS / RESET button, 4 LAN connectors, and 1 WAN connector. And of course the power adapter connector.

TP-LINK TL-WR840N has built-in antennas, so nothing sticks out. Those who don't like protruding antennas should like this model. It should also be noted that it is possible to hang the router on the wall. For many, this is important. Specifically, I didn't like the only fact that the legs of the router are not rubberized, and it slides on the table.

TP-LINK TL-WR840N: reviews

I read reviews about TP-LINK TL-WR840N on the Internet, looked at what people write, and saw nothing wrong.

I know what interests you most: how much it cuts the speed, and what is the radius of the Wi-Fi network coverage. I have already written about this somewhere. Everything is individual. A lot depends on the conditions where you will use the router and the devices that you will connect to it. But if you look at the reviews, you can see information that some people get 80 Mbps via Wi-Fi, or even more. And there are reviews where 10 Mbit / s cannot be squeezed out. I would advise you not to even pay attention to this information.

It is the same with the wireless coverage radius. Everyone has different houses, different walls, and different sources of interference. And how far the router can penetrate the signal depends very much on this.

This router is definitely no worse than other models that can be purchased for this price. I liked the router. And then it's a matter of taste, it seems to me that most when buying a router are generally guided by the appearance of the device. So you can see the photo at the top of this page.
