Today we have a TP-LINK Archer C7 router for review. This is not a budget router model, but not a top one either. The Archer C7 costs just over a hundred dollars. And for this money we get a powerful, and what is very important, a modern router that is unlikely to become obsolete even in a couple of years.

Let's talk about the main thing right away. TP-LINK Archer C7 is a dual band Gigabit router. This means that it can broadcast a Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Of course, there is support for the new 802.11ac standard. Maximum wireless speed: 2.4GHz up to 450Mbps, 5GHz up to 1300Mbps. With the wireless network sorted out.

The WAN port and 4 LAN ports can also operate at 1000 Mbps. There are two USB ports, version 2.0. Having two USB ports is pretty cool. After all, you can simultaneously organize shared access to a network printer and to a USB drive. Also, there is support for 3G / 4G modems. But, I still could not figure out on which specific hardware versions of the router, or firmware. Most likely from the second hardware version. Either on devices that go for a specific country. I think that after updating the firmware to the latest version, everything will work.

This router will distribute the Internet stably under load. When you want to play online games, watch videos, etc. on several computers at the same time. It seems to me that Archer C7 is the ideal router model for everyone who has TVs with Smart TVs. In order to use all the chips, and not observe connection breaks, or lack of speed when watching videos in high quality.

I forgot to write about antennas, and the radius of the Wi-Fi network coverage. Three detachable antennas (5 dBi) are responsible for the transmission of the Wi-Fi signal at 5 GHz. And three built-in antennas (4.5 dBi) transmit the signal at 2.4 GHz. But, even so, the coverage radius of the Wi-Fi network at a frequency of 2.4 GHz is exactly larger (by one division, I checked it on the phone). There is enough coverage for an apartment or a house. Well, if not enough, then you can install a repeater, or strengthen Wi-Fi in other ways.

TP-LINK Archer C7 router review

Personally, I really liked the design of the Archer C7 router. I only disliked the soiled, glossy, black plastic from which the upper part of the case is made. It looks cool, but it collects prints very well. But, if you wipe the router and do not touch it, then everything is fine. On the front panel, you can see indicators that are green.

All ports and buttons are located on the back of the router. What is there just not. In addition to attaching three antennas, you can see there:

  • Connector for the power adapter.
  • On / Off button for power management.
  • Separate switch to enable and disable Wi-Fi network.
  • Two USB ports with indicators.
  • 1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports.
  • WPS / Reset button.

This is how it looks:

Everything is beautiful, convenient, and you can immediately see that the router is not the cheapest. And it is not the smallest in size. The only pity is that there are no rubberized legs. But on the other hand, you can hang the Archer C7 on the wall.

Opinions from the TP-LINK Archer C7

If you have already bought this router, then be sure to write your review in the comments. It will be very useful for everyone who is thinking about buying this model. You can write about your impression, how he is at work, what problems were possible, etc.

I find TP-LINK Archer C7 to be a very good home router option. Which will distribute the Internet to all your devices without any problems, and what is very important, it will work stably compared to cheaper models. It is not just that he collected so many different awards.

Let's sum up: it looks cool, works stably, modern, powerful. Good value for money. If you like the look and are satisfied with the price - take it, you will not regret it. If you cannot make a choice, then see the article on choosing a router for your home.
