A big request to specifically choose a router for our apartment and devices

Hello!

We had a weak provider's router, which had to be constantly rebooted. Now I started to work badly. The provider of course offered to buy a router from them. But we decided that it would be better to buy a more reliable one.

Having accidentally hit your site, first of all I was delighted with the abundance of information, thank you very much !!! And secondly, I simply "got lost" in this information. Therefore, I decided to ask you for help. And I will be very grateful if you help me.

  • We have a 3-room apartment with concrete walls.
  • 2 TVs (via the provider's network)
  • 2 phones
  • 2 tablets
  • 1 laptop (if enabled, then 1 phone and tablet are disabled)

The games are pretty primitive. We do not download the video. In general, the download is not very large, 2 TVs and 2 gadgets can work together.

I would like the cost is not expensive, but reliable.

AND I WOULD LIKE THE INSTRUCTION IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE - this is very important, because I try, and often succeed, to understand the process myself, and to control this process.

Thank you for a great site! And I hope to get an answer.

Best regards, Lydia.

Hello. If you haven't read it yet, then be sure to read the article Which Wi-Fi router is better to buy for a house or apartment.

I don't like to give advice on specific router models. Everyone has different conditions, and you never know what, and then I'm to blame 🙂 As for choosing a router specifically for your apartment and your devices. As I understand it, the old router that your ISP gave you was not very powerful. It would be nice to know his model. And yet, it would be nice to know what kind of Internet you have. And then I don't know what to advise, with which WAN port you need a router. Regular Ethernet, or you have ADSL, telephone cable. Most likely Ethernet.

As far as I understand, even the old router broadcast a signal to the whole apartment, or were there places where Wi-Fi did not catch? And what does "2 TVs (via the provider's network)" mean, were they connected to the router via cable?

I would still recommend buying something like the TP-LINK Archer C20i, or Archer C20. We have instructions on how to set up the first one on our website, and I will write about the second one soon. Or devices from this price range from other manufacturers.

If something is cheaper, you can look at Asus RT-N12, or ZyXEL Keenetic Start. I think they should be enough for your tasks. But it's a stretch. Well, see if you need a dual-band router, and if you need a USB port.

As you can see, there are many different nuances. And to say that this particular router will definitely suit your tasks and your apartment is very difficult.
