I went to the section with instructions for Xiaomi routers today, and realized that I had not yet written an instruction on how to reset the settings on these routers. There is nothing special and complicated, but a separate instruction will not hurt. Now I will quickly show you how to reset the settings of a Xiaomi router. I will be restoring factory settings on my Xiaomi mini WiFi.

This instruction is suitable for all models: Xiaomi Mi WiFi 3c, Xiaomi Mi WiFi Nano, Mini Wifi, Mi WiFi Router 2. Reset can be done both with the Reset button, which is located on the router itself, or through the control panel. But, since your control panel is most likely in Chinese (if you have not installed English firmware), it is better to use the button.

After restoring the factory settings, the router will be like new. And you will need to configure it again. Reset often helps solve many different problems. If the router is unstable, you are confused in the settings, or it is not possible to configure something, then we do a reset and try to do everything again.

Important! If you want to save the settings of the router to a file in order to restore them later, then see the second part of this manual, where I showed how to do it.

Restoring factory settings with the Reset button

The router must be turned on. Take a toothpick, or something sharp, press the "Reset" button recessed into the body, hold it and look at the indicator. After about 10-15 seconds, the indicator will blink and turn red. Everything, the button can be released.

According to the idea, the router should reboot itself, and the settings will be reset. But I waited for about two minutes, my indicator just burned red.

Then I turned off the power of the router, turned it back on, and the router turned on. And the settings were restored to the factory settings. If you face the same problem, then wait a bit, turn off the power and turn it back on.

True, maybe this is only in my case. Or maybe this is normal for Xiaomi routers, and it should be so. If you know, write in the comments.

Resetting the Xiaomi router settings through the control panel

Connect to the router, and go to its settings at miwifi.com... To get into the control panel, you will need to specify the password that you set during the setup process.

In the control panel, click on the button that I showed in the screenshot below.

If you translate the settings into Russian using a browser, then this will be the section "General parameters" - "System status". Button "Immediate recovery" :). Yes, Yandex Browser can translate from Chinese.

Another window will appear. To restore the settings, click on the button on the right. If you click on the button on the left, the router will offer you to save the settings to a file so that you can restore them later. If necessary, you can use this function and create a backup copy of the parameters.

If you choose to create a backup, you can select which settings to keep. I advise you to leave all the checkboxes and confirm the operation. The download of the file with the backup copy of the parameters of the Xiaomi router will start immediately.

To restore settings from a file, do this:

After clicking on the "Select file" button, you need to select a file with a backup copy of the settings.
