Yes, you can connect a USB flash drive or an external hard drive to the Xiaomi Mini Wifi router. But, as far as I know, on the factory firmware, access to the connected USB drive can only be obtained through the special Mi Wi-Fi application, which can be installed from Google Play for Android, or from the App Store for iOS devices. For PC, the Mi Wi-Fi program can be downloaded from the official Xiaomi website.
To use a USB flash drive connected to the router as a regular drive (network drive on mobile devices and computers), you will have to flash Xiaomi Mini Wifi with third-party Padavan firmware.
