If my review on TP-Link Deco E3 can be useful even in the process of choosing a Wi-Fi solution for home, or even office, then this article will be useful to those who have already opted for Deco E3 directly and bought this system. I will show and tell you how to connect and configure it. Despite the fact that this Mesh system is slightly different in its format, the setup process is still simple and straightforward. In this case, we will not have two or three identical modules, but one main module and a signal amplifier. Both devices support Mesh Wi-Fi technology. Once set up, they will create a single, seamless Wi-Fi network for all of your devices.

Since the configuration of all Mesh Wi-Fi systems from TP-Link is performed through the application from a mobile device (smartphone or tablet), I immediately recommend installing the same application on the phone. It is called Deco. We find the application in the App Store or Google Play and install it. It is also advisable to immediately go to the application and register TP-Link ID (if you do not have one). After registration, you need to log in to the application using your TP-Link ID account. Then you can start unpacking and connecting the main module of the TP-Link Deco E3 system.

In terms of connection, everything is elementary. We take the main module and connect the power adapter to it into the corresponding connector from below. We plug in the socket. We connect the Internet to one of the two Ethernet ports (a cable from an Internet provider, modem, router).

We are waiting for the indicator (which is located on top of the module) to flash blue. Then go to the Wi-Fi settings on your phone or tablet and connect to an open Wi-Fi network, which is distributed by the Deco E3 module. After connecting, launch the Deco application and click on the "Let's get started" button. Next, select your E3 system from the list and click on the "Next" button.

Most likely your Internet is connected directly to the module, so you need to click on "I don't have a modem". We confirm that the indicator is blinking blue and in the next window, click on the "I'm already connected" button. Let me remind you that your device must be connected to the Wi-Fi network of the Mesh system (the factory name of the SSID is indicated at the bottom of the module). After the program detects the Deco module, you need to choose where it will be placed. For example, in the hallway.

We just need to set up an Internet connection and a Wi-Fi network. The system itself will try to determine the type of Internet connection. I have a Dynamic IP. In this case, you just need to go to the next configuration step. If you have a different type of connection (PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP), then you need to specify the username, password, server address. The connection type can be selected manually if necessary. All these parameters can be checked with your Internet provider.

To configure Wi-Fi, you only need to specify the network name and password. Then connect your device to the new network.

The system will check the network connection and test the Internet connection. If everything is in order, the application will ask you to add another module, or complete the setup. Since we also have an amplifier, we click on "Add another Deco". If you will not connect an amplifier (you can add it to the system later), then you can complete the setup.

Connecting the second module: Mesh Wi-Fi signal booster

To get started, you just need to plug it in. Please note that in the place where you are going to install the amplifier, there should be a normal signal of the main Wi-Fi network.

Wait for the power indicator to stop flashing. Then you can continue the configuration through the application.

We only need to select the amplifier model (M3W), indicate the floor and room.

The application will go through the network optimization process. All LEDs on the Deco M3W will light white.

You can finish the setup and go to control the Mesh Wi-Fi system.

In the application itself, everything is very simple. The main window, where all connected devices are displayed. If you click on "Internet", then you can see all the modules of the Mesh system and their status in the network. The "More" tab contains all the settings. There are some useful settings in the "Advanced" section that you might find useful.

I recommend enabling the "Fast Roaming" function. If after switching on there are problems with connecting devices (mostly old ones) to the Wi-Fi network, then disable this function. You can also turn off the indicators. Deco E3 system can work in access point mode. This can be useful when the main unit is connected to a router.

That's all. If something didn't work out for you, or you have any questions, write in the comments. I will answer everyone and try to help.
