Good afternoon! After updating Windows 10 to version 1903 on the HP g6 pavilion laptop, Wi-Fi completely disappeared, I read your articles and comments, I tried everything, no changes, the adapter itself is in the system, but it does not load. The services are all enabled, there is no this adapter in the device manager, downloaded the same updated for 10-ki, launched the file installed in the SWSetup folder after the reboot, the adapter is not displayed anywhere, I tried everything last, it remains to look in the BIOS where there is no Wi-Fi adapter. What does this mean and how to fix it?

Answer

Good afternoon. It would be nice to see the screenshots, otherwise I didn't really understand this moment:

the adapter itself is in the system but it does not load

and

there is no this adapter in device manager

Did you download the Wi-Fi driver for the HP Pavilion g6 under Windows 10 from the HP website, and after the installation, the SWSetup folder appears? Most likely, the driver was not installed, but was simply unzipped into this folder. There may be a driver installation file in this folder that you need to run for installation.

You didn't write which laptop model you have. HP Pavilion g6 has a lot:

Plus, it looks like there are no drivers for HP Pavilion g6 notebooks on the HP website at all under Windows 10. For HP Pavilion g6-2100, for example, only under Windows 7 and Windows 8. I don’t know which driver and where you downloaded from.

You wrote that you looked at my articles, but did not write which ones. Here is an article on how to enable or disable Wi-Fi in laptop BIOS. But the BIOS menu does not always have Wi-Fi (Wireless adapter) settings. You can just do a BIOS reset. This can usually be done in the BIOS menu by pressing the F5 key and save the settings with F10.

If Wi-Fi worked on the laptop before updating Windows 10, but stopped after the update, then the problem is definitely software. There may be some incompatibility between the driver and the new version of Windows 10.

You can also try running a Windows 10 factory reset while saving your personal files.
