Why did the Wi-Fi reception on the laptop drop so badly, does it pick up the signal poorly?

Hello, in general, the problem was such a laptop was in the village and the Internet was working with a wire from the router to the laptop. He took the laptop to the city and saw the networks perfectly and caught it with 5-4 sticks, but a week later he stopped seeing many networks and catches my wifi for 1 stick and sometimes even disappears altogether.

There were some mechanical damages just when I got up from the workplace, the laptop clung and slightly rose and fell, maybe some problems with the wifi module? And there was also when I got rid of the windows-update.exe miner and when I finally banished it, wifi started to work badly, but the Internet from the wire works great.

Help me please.

Answer

Good afternoon. Somehow I already answered a similar question: the laptop catches Wi-Fi only near the router (problem with the Wi-Fi antenna). The problem was that the wire that goes from the Wi-Fi module to the antenna, which is usually located under the cover of the screen, was frayed. Or here's another: poor WI-FI network reception on an HP laptop.

To be honest, I have never met a case when similar problems with poor Wi-Fi signal reception on any particular device were due to settings, drivers, viruses, etc. As a rule, the problem is always hardware, and not software. And most likely something with the Wi-Fi antenna in the laptop. Moreover, you had mechanical damage. Maybe the antenna has turned off, poor contact on the Wi-Fi module itself, maybe the wire that goes to the antenna has also broken.

You can try reinstalling the driver on the Wi-Fi adapter, but this is unlikely to solve the problem. It is necessary to disassemble the laptop and look for the reason why such a weak Wi-Fi signal reception. The fact that the laptop does not see other neighboring networks is understandable. They have a weak signal, he and his own network, which is nearby, barely sees (by one division).

First of all, you need to check the connection of the Wi-Fi antenna to the module. For more information, see the article on replacing the Wi-Fi module in a laptop. For example:

If everything is connected there, then you need to watch the wire itself and the antenna. If you are not sure that you can disassemble and check everything, then it is better to contact the service center.

For a while, you can connect an external USB Wi-Fi adapter. There are very small Nano adapters. I talked about them in the article Wi-Fi adapter for a laptop. How to replace the built-in Wi-Fi module?
