I don't have much experience with Linksys routers, but I got acquainted with the Linksys E1200 and now I will try to review this model, consider the main characteristics, leave a review, and you can leave your review. The greatest value is carried by the reviews of users who have had a certain router for a long time. The fact that I looked at the router, configured it, checked how it works, etc., will in no way allow me to determine all the shortcomings of the device. I can only read reviews on other sites, add my feelings from the router to them and write about it on the pages of this site. But I hope that this information will be useful to you.

Something I moved away from the topic. So the Linksys E1200. Now we will try to understand what kind of router it is, for whom it is suitable and what disadvantages it has. I would classify the E1200 as an inexpensive model suitable for home use. But, here you need to understand that if you have a large three-room apartment, or you plan to connect many devices, then the Linksys E1200 will not suit you. The radius of the Wi-Fi network coverage is not very large. Enough for 1-2 rooms with a stable signal. I strongly doubt that it will be possible to use the Internet through two walls.

A small review of Linksys E1200

Linksys E1200 looks very cool and stylish. The black case made of matte plastic, the absence of external antennas and the interesting shape of the device make this router very attractive. Everything is beautiful and harmonious. And the lack of indicators of the device's operation on the front panel is only a plus of this router, it does not look like a Christmas tree and will not interfere with your sleep. The LEDs are located on the rear panel, below the corresponding connectors and buttons.

Almost all buttons and connectors are located on the back of the device. There you can find 1 WAN connector, 4 LAN, and a connector for connecting the power cable. There is a separate button for activating WPS and power off. And below you can find a button to reset the settings to the factory settings. It is recessed into the body. To reset the Linksys E1200, you need to press this button with something sharp and hold it for about 10 seconds (all indicators should light up and go out).

There are two rubber feet on the bottom so that the router does not slide on the table. Unfortunately, there is no way to hang the router on the wall. I just looked at this router and realized that if you spill something on it from above, then nothing will happen to it, if you quickly pick it up, so that the liquid does not leak from below :) There are no holes, seams and buttons on top. It seems to be nonsense, but anything can happen.

Is it easy to set up this router yourself? Yes, not difficult. This router comes with a disk with software for quick setup (now, a disk with a router is already a rarity). But, I would advise you to immediately configure through the browser. The control panel itself looks kind of confusing and outdated. Competitors have been doing much better for a long time. It seems to me that it would be better if they abandoned the configuration using the disk (I think this is the last century), and made a normal router control panel.

Well, I think that's enough. If I have time, I will also review the Linksys E1200 with many photos and a more detailed one.

Main characteristics:

  • WAN port - regular Ethernet (RJ-45). In it, you can connect your cable from an Internet provider, or a cable from a modem. Supports such protocols: L2TP, PPPoE, PPTP.
  • 4 LAN ports from which you can squeeze a maximum of 100 Mbps.
  • The Wi-Fi network broadcasted by the Linksys E1200 operates at 2.4 GHz and a maximum speed of 300 Mbps.
  • Two built-in antennas.
  • Support for IPTV and other popular features that you (and I) are unlikely to use.
  • In the box with the router, you will find the router itself, a network cable, a power adapter, a disk with a configuration program and a small instruction (which is of no use).

Linksys E1200 reviews

This router does not have any pronounced drawback. Yes, the Wi-Fi signal is not very strong. I agree, I checked it, I think that the same TP-LINK TL-WR841ND will have a better signal (there is experience). And their price is about the same. They write that it cuts speed, a bad WAN port, does not tolerate changes in electricity, does not brew coffee, does not hold a load, etc. I want to say that every router has such shortcomings and, accordingly, reviews on the network. You see, the market for these routers has long been formulated, there are many manufacturers, and fortunately, there is plenty to choose from. Well, it does not happen now that a router is being sold, which is frankly sorry "it".

If it was bad, it would simply not be bought. They don't make such bad models now. And if something appears on the market, then the manufacturer quickly corrects all the shortcomings, otherwise he will not sell anything and even spoil his reputation. There are no bad routers, there are cheap, mid-range and expensive. And if you cannot choose between several devices that cost the same, then take the one that you like best in appearance. Since they will work in the same way (and if not the same, then you will not notice this difference).

Something missed me again :) Well, I think you get my point. Linksys E1200 is a normal router, like everyone else for the money. And the reviews that can be read for each model, any device, are generally a separate topic. I will write a detailed article about this somehow.

I understand that if you choose a router, you want to specifically hear whether a certain model is right for you. But, hardly anyone will answer you specifically. Unless a good specialist who has a lot of experience and who will first look at your house (walls, router installation location, etc.). Linksys E1200 is suitable for connecting your phones, laptops, TVs, tablets and other devices via Wi-Fi. You can connect a few more devices via cable. But, you need to understand that if you hang on it, say 10 devices that will download something, on which you will play online games and watch videos, then this router will most likely simply not withstand the load. And if you have a large apartment, say 70 squares or more, then buy something more powerful. You can look at Linksys, but more expensive and powerful models from this manufacturer.

Don't forget to leave your feedback for the Linksys E1200! Thanks.
