On Asus routers, it is possible to configure the operation of a Wi-Fi network on a schedule. A very useful feature that I myself use. This function allows you to set the time when the Wi-Fi module will work and when not. We can set up the work of Wi-Fi by the day and by the hour. The most common use is to turn off Wi-Fi at night. I also use this function. I have Wi-Fi turned off automatically at 12 a.m. and Wi-Fi sharing will automatically turn on at 6 a.m. These settings are valid for all days of the week.

Not all routers have this feature. For example, in Tp-link I have not seen such an opportunity. I do not know the truth as it is now in the new versions, most likely they have already done it. But in Asus, the function of turning off Wi-Fi on a schedule is done very cool and understandable. I will show the setting on devices with newer firmware (dark).

People often ask if Wi-Fi should be turned off at night. In terms of impact on health. I think so: if there is a desire, and the router supports turning off / on the radio module on a schedule, then why not configure it. Especially if nobody uses the Internet wirelessly at night. And if you specifically turn off the wireless module, or the router itself, before going to bed, then I think that this is superfluous. Although, it's up to you.

Of the disadvantages of such a shutdown, if you suddenly need Wi-Fi at night (when the network is turned off by the router), you will have to connect to the router via cable, go into the settings, and change the schedule. I once had a case when I had to connect a new device at night, and there was simply no Wi-Fi network. Looked, the router is on. Rebooted, Wi-Fi appeared and disappeared for a minute. What I just didn’t do until I remembered that I had it switched off after 12 at night on schedule.

Automatically turn off and turn on Wi-Fi on an Asus router (by time)

In Asus routers, this feature is called "Wireless Scheduler". Here we will configure it.

Connect to your router and go to settings at 192.168.1.1. Here are detailed instructions on how to enter the control panel. In the settings, we first need to set the correct time zone. To do this, go to the tabAdministration - System... In fieldTimezone select yours and click on the button Apply.

By the way, on this tab, we can assign another function to the WPS button on the Asus router - turning off and on the Wi-Fi network. It is enough to install a switch near On off. Wi-Fi and apply the settings. After that, you yourself can turn off and turn on the wireless network with the button on the router. If you are not using the WPS function.

To configure the wireless scheduler, go to the tab Wireless networkProfessionally, and place the switch near Yes, opposite pointEnable Wireless Scheduler... A link will appearTime Setting... Click on it.

Everything is very simple here. There is a table with time and days. And right on this table we mark the time when the Wi-Fi network will be turned off. You can select cells and deselect them. There is a clarification at the top:Allow - Wi-Fi is on.Deny - the wireless network is disabled. Select the required cells and press the button Ok... The setting for turning off the wireless module from 12 am to 6 am, for all days will look like this:

Click on the button Applyand you're done. The setup is complete.

After these settings, the router itself, at a specified time, will completely disable the wireless network. And it will turn it on at the time specified in the settings. I think you will find a useful application for this function. If you have any questions, then ask in the comments.
