Finally, there is an opportunity to get acquainted with the first sensor router from TP-Link. Model AC1900 Touch P5. Even from the name it is easy to guess that the router is touch-sensitive. More precisely, it has a touch screen. This is not news, since the router has been out for a long time, but I hope that the information you can read in this article will be useful to you when choosing a router. The Touch P5 router deserves your attention, believe me.

In fact, this is an ordinary, modern and powerful router that supports dual-band Wi-Fi networks (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), of course, there is support for the new IEEE 802.11ac standard. There are also 4 Gigabit LAN ports and 1 WAN onboard. Two USB ports, which is pretty cool. Moreover, one of them is the USB 3.0 standard. Good Wi-Fi coverage thanks to three external antennas and Beamforming technology.

I can say with confidence that this router is suitable even for a large apartment or house without any problems. And its power is enough for a variety of devices and for different tasks. Watching videos, playing online games - will survive without problems. Well, this is understandable, the router works on a dual-core processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. But until recently we were surprised at such processors in mobile phones 🙂

On the technical side, this is a powerful router. On its basis, you can easily build a stable network in your home, or even office. But, TP-Link Touch P5 has one feature that sets it apart from other similar routers, and makes this device even more attractive. It's a touchscreen, of course. It is capacitive, 4.3 inches. I want to say right away that the touch screen on the router is cool. Moreover, this is not just a touch screen that displays some information, it is a full-fledged, quick access to the router settings. You can configure the router without a computer or mobile device.

I just don't understand why this topic has not become popular. After all, in fact, everything is over with touch screens in routers on the Touch P5. And the idea is cool, and TP-Link has a good implementation, but for some reason it didn't work. The touchscreen on the router seems to scare off buyers. Few people want to pay extra for a chip they can do without.

By the way, with regard to the price. You can look at online stores. The TP-Link Touch P5 does not cost much. There are even more expensive routers with the same specifications and without touch screens.

Review of TP-Link Touch P5 router with touchscreen

The router itself is not small (this is immediately clear even from the packaging) and has a decent weight. The PSU is just as big as the cheaper models. The kit also contains documentation and a network cable.

The upper part is made of black plastic with an interesting structure and holes. On the front panel there is a company logo and a touch screen with one touch button "Home". Everything looks very stylish. The body itself seems to be curved. There is a blue bar under the screen that glows when the router is on, even when the screen is turned off.

Almost all ports and buttons are located on the back. There are 4 LAN ports, 1 WAN, and 1 USB. And the second USB, which is 3.0, is located at the bottom, on the lower right corner of the router. There is also an on / off button on the back, and a Reset button recessed into the body.

As you can see, there are no WPS buttons, and no Wi-Fi network enable / disable buttons. They are not needed, it can be done in a couple of seconds through the touch control panel.

The ventilation of the router is good, as there are holes on the bottom, sides and even on top. But dust will probably quickly get inside the router.

As for the screen itself, it is good for a router. Yes, the pixels are a little visible and it fades a little when viewed from an angle. But this is a router, and you will not watch movies on it. It turns off after a while if you are not using it. You can configure this in the settings. Also, you can adjust the brightness of the backlight.

The menu is well drawn. To me personally, the settings are somewhat reminiscent of the interface for apple products. And so, even scrolling and typing on the screen is nice. There is a built-in keyboard with which you can type passwords and other information that is necessary to manage the router.

By the way, TP-Link Touch P5 can be hung on the wall. This will make it look even cooler, and will be more visible to your guests обычно I usually don't give marks, but I would give this model 5 points out of 5. Both for the design and in general for the idea, implementation, and work.

Opinions from the TP-Link Touch P5

There are not many reviews of the Touch P5 on the Internet. The model is still not budgetary, and its audience is small. I liked the router. And he costs his money. Another thing is, if we were offered for this price a router with the technical characteristics of some budget model, and covered all this with a touch screen, then yes, why do we need it. And TP-Link Touch P5 has full stuffing and powerful hardware. In addition, there is support for all modern standards, which means that it will be relevant for a long time.

Well, the touch screen itself is very cool. Both externally and in functionality. The router can really be configured without connecting a computer or mobile device. But it is during the first setup that many have problems. Yes, the touch control panel is in English, but everything is clear there. Of course, not all functions are accessible from the touchscreen control panel. Otherwise there would be a complete mess. But everything you need is always at hand.

How do you like this decision? Do you think there is a future for these routers? Well, if you have already purchased the Touch P5, then be sure to leave your feedback in the comments.
