Mobile hotspot in Windows 10 over PPPoE (dial-up, broadband)

I decided to make a separate article in which to sort out the problem with setting up the distribution of Wi-Fi through the "Mobile hotspot" in Windows 10, when the Internet connection is via a high-speed connection. Using PPPoE technology, when the connection is made through dialing a number (login and password). There are a lot of comments on this issue. I must say right away that there is no solution yet. But there are other options to share Wi-Fi, without the Mobile Hotspot feature.

The problem itself looks like this: in Windows 10, we have a high-speed connection to the provider configured. The internet works.

And on the tab "Mobile hotspot" there is an error: "The mobile hotspot could not be configured because the computer does not have an Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular connection.".

Everything is very simple. It turns out that the hotspot function does not see the Internet connection that is configured via PPPoE. When a high-speed connection is started, the Ethernet adapter has an Unrecognized Network status. This is normal, since there is another connection through which the Internet is working, but the "Mobile Hotspot" function does not see this connection, and gives an error that the computer is not connected to the Internet. Here's another screenshot:

The problem is clear. Let's see what you can do.

How to solve the problem with launching a hotspot via PPPoE?

There is no solution at this time. This is confirmed by the experts from Microsoft. Here is their answer on the official forum:

That's it. It remains to wait for Microsoft to fix this feature. If they fix it.

Other solutions

Alternatively, start the distribution of Wi-Fi via the command line, according to the instructions: https://help-wifi.com/nastrojka-virtualnoj-wi-fi-seti/kak-razdat-wi-fi-s-noutbuka-na-windows -ten/. But after the update, when a hot spot appeared, the network starts up for many, but the computer does not give out IP addresses to the devices, and the devices do not connect to the access point. I wrote about this problem in the article: Devices do not connect to the access point in Windows 10. Obtaining an IP address.

As it seems to me, the only solution is to reset the network settings in Windows 10, start the access point through the command line, and open the general access to your high-speed Internet connection. Most likely, this will help solve the problem with connecting devices to the access point.

After resetting the network settings to factory defaults, you will most likely have to reconfigure your connection to your provider (PPPoE). If you do not know how to do this, then see the article on setting up the Internet in Windows 10.

In any case, no need to be upset, this is Windows :), that's okay.

I will follow this topic, if any solution appears, I will definitely write about it. If you have any useful information on this problem, then you can share it in the comments.
