Good afternoon! Can you tell me, please, I ran into a problem with the internet connection play station 4! Provider Rostelecom, a wi-fi router at home, I take the LAN wire to the router and to the console itself, in the console settings I go to the settings and select the Internet connection via the LAN wire, then ask me for the PPPoE name and password, I take the connection card from the router where the login and password are written, I enter, it gives me the wrong data, I enter everything correctly, like the ID or password is not correct ... I tried it several times, maybe I encountered this ???

Answer

Good afternoon. I have not encountered this, since there is no PS4, and the Internet is not PPPoE. The problem is strange, at least because when connecting through a router on a set-top box, you hardly need to configure a connection via PPPoE. Set the username and password that the provider gave you, etc. If you connected the cable from the provider directly to the PlayStation 4, then yes. Honestly, I learned from you that PPPoE can be configured on PS4.

See if you have a router installed to which the Internet is connected (in this case, Rostelecom), then the PPPoE connection is configured and launched on the router. It is connected to the Internet and then simply distributes it to all devices via the local network (DHCP, issues IP addresses to all devices automatically). You do not configure and run PPPoE on all devices connected to the router. Unless your router is configured incorrectly (it works in bridge mode).

So the Internet from the router should work immediately after connecting the network cable to the PlayStation 4 (as well as to the computer, laptop and other devices). If it does not work, then you need to configure. Only during the setup process, choose not "Plain", and "Special".

And then we choose "Automatically", since our router issues all addresses automatically.

We would configure PPPoE on PS4 if the cable from the provider was connected directly to the set-top box, and the provider used this type of connection.

Another thing: it is not uncommon for a router to have one or several LAN ports reserved for IPTV and the Internet does not work through them. Try to connect to another port, or look in the router settings for the status of the LAN ports (what they are used for). This is just in case.
