Access to TP-LINK router settings is lost after connecting the Ethernet cable to the WAN port

Hello! The question is as follows. The router worked fine for a year. Everything was fine and there were no problems. Router TP-LINK TL-WR841N. The latest software version is currently available for the 13th hardware version of this router.

Sudden reboot and internet disconnection occurred. I checked with the provider - everything is okay. Everything works for the neighbors, which means that the problem is not on the part of the provider. The cable rang - there is a signal. The problem is specifically in the router, since now I am writing this question from a PC that is directly connected with an Ethernet cable.

I did a complete reset of the router settings and even more than once. What for? Find out further. I tried to configure the router again, since I already did this and everything was fine, but this time it was not so, since I could not enter the settings. Connected via 192.168.0.1 and tplinkwifi.net. Yes, I checked the gateway and made sure that 192.168.0.1 is the correct gateway, but just to be sure, I checked 192.168.1.1!

None of the addresses brought me to the settings site. All this time, the Ethernet cable was in the router. After disconnecting the cable and trying to go into the router settings, everything worked, and specifically, I went into the settings and was able to configure the router, enter the login and password and all the data that I had. In this case, I have a provider ONLY STORK and more NO OTHER in the area at all.

The connection is via PPTP, so I entered the server address too. IP, Masks and DNS are not given to us, since everything is dynamic. I set up and tried to insert an Ethernet cable - the same attack, the cable somehow does something with the router and it blocks the 192.168.0.1 gateway node !!! I pinged this address and the command line clearly wrote to me that this node was blocked for access. Why? I DO NOT KNOW! I pushed ipconfig with and without a cable and the gateway is the same everywhere. In the settings of this connection, I have to automatically receive data for ipv4 and ipv6. That is why I did a factory reset several times in a row. Please help me please.

Answer

Hello. I understood your problem. I have never encountered such a problem. To be honest, I don't even know what the matter might be. To begin with, I would like to clarify one nuance. Access to the settings of the TP-LINK TL-WR841N router disappears after connecting the network cable from the Internet provider to the WAN port of the router. Right? It's just that the same Ethernet cable is used to connect the computer to the router (according to the LAN-LAN scheme).

It is imperative to find out one important point. After connecting the cable to the WAN port of the TP-LINK router, the settings stop opening only on the computer, or on all devices? Including on devices that connect to the router via Wi-Fi. After setting up the router, does the Internet work through it? Even if the settings don't open.

Connecting a cable to the WAN port should not affect the entry into the router settings in any way. Moreover, when it is at the factory settings.

You wrote:

That is, the router just rebooted at one point? Doesn't it repeat itself now? I think that hardware failure of the router in your case should not be ruled out.

You can change the IP address of the router in the settings, in the Network - LAN section. For example, 192.168.0.3.

Configure the connection to the provider, save the settings, reboot the router, connect the cable to the WAN port and try to open the web interface using the new IP address.

Complete your question in the comments (by answering my questions) and we will think further. You can attach a screenshot of the command line window with the result of the ping command to 192.168.0.1.
